| Tips for
using KEEP OFF®
effectively
In
most cases KEEP OFF is effective immediately.
However, each situation has its particular set of problems. The
following notes should help to get the deterrent results you want in
and around the home:
- It is very
important to clean the target area carefully before each
application. This means removing any animal excrement and hosing
thoroughly to flush away any urine.
- The product should
be applied sparingly and repeatedly until undesirable habits have
been broken.
- Application every
3-4 days is recommended. Re-apply spray after rains.
- KEEP
OFF's unique
green jelly-like crystals give your garden continuous and long
lasting protection, rain or shine. When it rains the crystals
absorb water and grow, they are not washed away. In hot weather
the crystals dry out but the actives stay "locked in".
- All animals react
differently. Most dogs will be deterred immediately while others
can take up to 3 or 4 weeks to be trained. For example, puppies
and old dogs generally take longer to respond. Cats take longer,
particularly if they have been visiting the area for a long period
of time.
- Persistence is the
key to success! It requires a special effort to change bad habits
into good habits.
- Certain gardening
materials such a blood and bone, composts and special soils can be
a strong attraction for cats and dogs. Cats can be attracted to
plants such as Catnip. This may overpower the effectiveness of the
deterrent.
- A general program
of "defensive gardening" will help. Wire mesh will stop
dogs digging. Low hedges will keep out strays. You could give your
dog his own "wee" area and then train him to use it.
- Although designed
for outdoor use, KEEP OFF spray is safe to use
inside. The smell should not effect humans unless they are
sensitive or allergic to perfumes. The best approach is to spray
the product onto sheets of newspaper and then place the newspaper
on target areas such as furniture and floors.
